Moving the Qlik Replicate data folder to a different location on the same server

This guide will show how the Qlik Replicate data folder can be moved to a different location or disk within the same server. This is for Windows Server only.

This method requires you to uninstall and reinstall Qlik Replicate, if you don't want to use this method, here is an alternative method where you edit the registry keys instead: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/replicate/May2024/Content/Replicate/Main/Installation/Change_Data_Directory_Location_Win.htm#Changing%20the%20Data%20Directory%20location%20on%20Windows

If you'd like to migrate your Qlik Replicate instance to another server instead, there is a different guide for this: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Official-Support-Articles/How-to-Move-the-Data-Directory-to-a-Different-Replicate-Server/ta-p/1962033

1. Stop all tasks.

Note: In some scenarios, tasks may take up to a maximum 30 minutes to stop successfully. Stopped tasks will show the square icon below.

2. Once all tasks have been stopped successfully. Stop both the Qlik Replicate services.

3. Create backups of your data folder and place in safe location.

4. As Administrator, run the Qlik Replicate installer of your currently installed version and build. This will uninstall the product.

5. After successful uninstallation, run the installer again As Administrator.

6. Ensure to keep the "Replicate" folder destination the same as before. Then continue.

Note: We kept it on the C: drive on our server but for you it may be elsewhere.

7. Select the new location of your data folder. Notice how I also named the folder “data” because my original folder was also called data. Then continue and finish the installation.

Note: This step will create a new data folder with no tasks in the specified location. We will later replace it once we confirm that the installation is working as expected.

8. Once the installation is successfully complete, open the console and make sure that you can access it. It should be empty.

9. Once confirmed, stop both services again.

10. In your new data folder location, rename the empty data folder and place your existing data folder here. This should replace it.

Note: To make it clear, here you basically replace the empty data folder generated by the installation with your existing data folder.

11. Start both services and launch the console. Ensure that you can resume your tasks
